Dynamic Design: From Dance to Recreational Space

This project focuses on the creation of a recreational building designed with varying levels of privacy. The design process began with sketches inspired by the fluid movements of a dancing figure, which helped shape the overall form of the building. As I sketched, I identified the public and private spaces, using the dancer's movement to guide the distribution of these areas. I pinpointed key structural elements from the dancer’s pose to establish the highest and lowest points, which informed the overall shape of the building. From there, I constructed a three-dimensional framework using basswood sticks, gradually giving the exoskeleton dimension. I then utilized SketchUp to create 3D models of potential forms for the building, and the final model was constructed using a combination of plexiglass, museum board, and basswood sheets to bring the concept to life.
