FIU Gender Neutral Bathroom

As part of Florida International University's ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), we propose a gender-neutral restroom that embodies these values while promoting sustainability and aesthetic innovation. This design will reflect the university’s dedication to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors, regardless of gender identity, cultural background, or personal beliefs. By fostering a space that supports equity and inclusivity, the restroom aims to serve as a representation of FIU's broader mission to create an environment that embraces diversity in every form.

At the heart of the design is the concept of multicolor, soft gradients, and illuminations, which will symbolize the rich diversity of the FIU community. The use of a dynamic and vibrant color palette throughout the proposed space is intended to evoke a sense of inclusivity, individuality, and belonging. By integrating color psychology into the design, we aim to create an environment that feels both comforting and empowering, ensuring every individual feels seen, heard, and respected, regardless of their background or identity. The gentle transitions between colors will represent fluidity, acceptance, and the importance of intersectionality in our diverse community.

Sustainability will be woven into every aspect of the design, from the use of eco-friendly materials to low-flow water fixtures and energy-efficient lighting.
